OLEY — For homeowners, replacing or even making repairs to a roof can be a major expense. Mast Roofing and Construction Inc. wants to take some of that stress away for one homeowner.
The Oley, Berks county-based roofing contractor is once again accepting nominations for its annual roof giveaway program — Project Peace of Mind. This is the 13th year for the program, which provides a brand-new roofing system to a local family in need.
The company is accepting nominations through Sunday, June 15.
The Program
The goal of Project Peace of Mind is simple, according to the company: To lift the burden of a failing roof off the shoulders of one deserving family and give them lasting security — and peace of mind.
Mast announced that it is inviting the community to answer a simple question — whom do you know that could really use this kind of support? It might be a neighbor, a co-worker, a teacher, or a fellow church member.
“Maybe someone is quietly carrying more than we realize,” the release stated. “Help us find the need in our own backyard — and be part of something truly meaningful.”

Who is eligible
Project Peace of Mind is open to residents of the five counties Mast services: Berks, Bucks, Chester, Lehigh and Montgomery.
Corrie Mast, coordinator of Project Peace of Mind for Mast Roofing and Construction, said what the company is looking for in the nominations is fairly simple.
“We’re trying to get to that person who, through no fault of their own, finds themselves in need of a new roof,” she said. That could be a family emergency, a death, illness or financial crisis.
Nominees must own and live in the home and must be current on their mortgage and taxes. Individuals cannot nominate themselves.
The nomination form is available at https://mastsroofing.com/project-peace-of-mind/. The form asks for information about the nominee and the person submitting the nomination. It also asks about the condition of the roof — including its age, whether the roof leaks, the current roof material, the style of the house and a description of the roof. People filling out the form are asked to provide as much information as they can.
The nomination form also asks why the person is a good candidate — whether they are experiencing financial hardships or had an unexpected situation arise. It is a chance for the company to get to know the nominee. There is also space on the form to provide additional comments.
Once the nomination period closes on June 15, the staff at Mast will review the nominees and choose the recipient. The recipient will be revealed in July, and the installation will be scheduled shortly after the announcement is made, the company said.

Last year, the company received about 53 nominations. The 2024 recipient was Ashley Rowe of Topton, a middle school teacher and single mom of two, according to Mast.
The Inspiration
Mast Roofing was involved with a national program called No Roof Left Behind. When that ended, the company implemented its own program — Project Peace of Mind — in 2022.
Mast previously told MediaNews Group that when the national program ceased operations, Mast Roofing didn’t want the initiative to end, so it developed something new. She said the company wanted to continue to give people ‘peace of mind’ when it comes to their roof.
“We have been so blessed as a company, doing the work that we do. We are Christians, and we know God is with us,” Mast said in a recent interview. “This is a no-brainer for us. We bless others and we get blessed in return.”
Mast added that Project Peace of Mind is “part of who we are.”
She said the team is reminded every year that while they know people are walking around with burdens, “we don’t know what people are dealing with.”

The company said the installations have been a success over the past 12 years.
“Project Peace of Mind has transformed the lives of a dozen local families, and Mast Roofing & Construction Inc. is proud to carry this tradition into its 13th year,” Mast said in its announcement of this year’s program. “Each year, the team looks forward to this event as a chance to come together, uplift a neighbor, and meet a real, tangible need — one shingle at a time.”
