PM Group, a global project delivery firm, will expand its Montgomery County operations — investing $495,000 in the expansion that will include new office space, and the addition of at least 48 new, full-time jobs over the next three years.
Gov. Josh Shapiro recently announced that his administration has committed $150,000 to support the PM Group’s expansion. That funding proposal from DCED includes a $100,000 Pennsylvania First grant and a $50,000 WEDnetPA grant to train PM Group’s employees.
PM Group, which is headquartered in Ireland, has been in Montgomery County since 2021, with offices at 300 Barr Harbor Drive in the Life Sciences Design Center in West Conshohocken. Responding to the growing life sciences industry, PM Group plans to lease new office space at 300 Four Falls Road in Conshohocken, the company said in a press release.
In addition to creating 48 new, full-time jobs, this project will retain all existing positions.
The average annual wage for the positions at PM Group — which include project managers, engineers and architects — is $180,000, according to the release.
“We have been in Philadelphia since 2021, and we are delighted to announce a further expansion as our business has grown significantly in response to our clients’ needs,” Allan Schouten, president, PM Group USA, said in a statement. “We will create 48 additional highly-skilled jobs enabling us to develop our office into a regional center of excellence for Life Sciences in engineering & architecture.” Schouten added that the company appreciates the support of the governor and Pennsylvania, “helping us to accelerate our growth in this dynamic region.”
PM Group was founded in Ireland in 1973 and is an employee-owned company that provides specialist engineering and architecture design for the world’s leading life science and data center companies. The company has more than 50 years of experience, and operates offices across Europe, Asia, and the USA — in Boston, San Francisco, and Raleigh-Durham, in addition to West Conshohocken.
“We’re thrilled that a global powerhouse like the PM Group has chosen to expand in Pennsylvania,” DCED Secretary Rick Siger said in a statement. “This is yet another project that further strengthens the robust life sciences ecosystem in Southeastern PA, which is one of the key industries of focus in our 10-year Economic Development Strategy.”
Siger and other senior DCED officials recently completed an economic development trip in Ireland to promote international business investment and travel to Pennsylvania, according to the release. In addition to the PM Group, the Irish-based companies, the Kerry Group and Tate, have announced they are expanding in Pennsylvania.
In 2024, Pennsylvania exported $663 million to Ireland, with top commodities including pharmaceutical and plastics products, the administration said in the release. Ireland has the sixth-highest Foreign Direct Investment footprint in the Commonwealth and is Pennsylvania’s ninth-largest trading partner. Currently, 382 Irish companies have their base of operations located in Pennsylvania to grow in the North American market.
The project with PM Group was coordinated by the Shapiro administration’s BusinessPA team, a group of economic development professionals dedicated to helping businesses succeed in Pennsylvania through tailored guidance, strategic partnerships, and financial resources, the release stated.
“Southeast Pennsylvania has the laboratory infrastructure for companies looking to grow in the life sciences industry and my Administration will continue to aggressively compete for — and win — new investments to strengthen our economy and create real opportunities for Pennsylvanians,” Shapiro said in a statement.
