Dermatology Partners has announced the opening of another office in Berks County. The newest office for the physician-led dermatology group is in Kutztown, 15050 Kutztown Road, First Floor, in Maxatawny Township.
The office is scheduled to open on Monday, Sept. 15.
Alan Himmelsbach, a board-certified nurse practitioner with more than 20 years of experience in dermatology and emergency medicine, will lead the new office, according to a press release.
Himmelsbach has experience in both medical and surgical dermatology and has trained alongside a Mohs surgeon while working in a variety of dermatologic settings in Pennsylvania and Iowa. In addition to his dermatology expertise, Himmelsbach has provided emergency care in hospital settings and served as a correctional medicine provider, managing acute, chronic, and dermatologic conditions for underserved populations, according to information in the release.
“The Kutztown practice will enable patients access to high-quality skin care close to home, without the need to travel long distances for treatments and routine screenings,” Andrew Frankel, COO at Dermatology Partners, said in a statement.
Frankel added that with Himmelsbach’s experience and expertise, Dermatology Partners patients can feel confident they are receiving “exceptional dermatologic care from a trusted, peer-respected, and highly trained specialist.”
Himmelsbach has served as a guest lecturer at Johns Hopkins School of Nursing and presented to professional organizations and community groups. He is known for his compassionate approach, quick clinical decision-making, and ability to communicate effectively with patients and colleagues, according to the practice. His clinical interests include skin cancer detection and treatment, surgical dermatology, and patient education.
He earned his Bachelor of Science in nursing from Villanova University, graduating cum laude, and went on to complete his Master of Science in nursing, adult nurse practitioner program at Johns Hopkins University. He also holds a Master of Science in human organization science from Villanova University and a Bachelor of Science from Purdue University.
