Kutztown, the two-time defending PSAC champion, is ranked seventh in the preseason AFCA Division II Coaches Poll, it was announced Monday.
The Golden Bears are not the highest ranked PSAC team, however, as Slippery Rock is ranked fourth.
Fresh off its third national title last season, Ferris State is ranked first.
Harding is ranked second and Grand Valley State third. Central Oklahoma is at No. 5.
Kutztown rattled off 11 straight wins last season, beating California (Pa.) in the PSAC title game, 21-14, and then lost to Slippery Rock, 25-24, in overtime in the Golden Bears’ opening game in the Division II playoffs.
California (Pa.) is ranked 13th and East Stroudsburg and Indiana (Pa.) also received votes, but did not crack the Top 25.
