S&T Bank, the wholly owned subsidiary of S&T Bancorp Inc., has once again exceeded its fundraising goal in support of Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation.
The bank raised more than $117,000 in support of the organization through the bank’s series of lemonade stands at 72 S&T branch locations and operations centers in Pennsylvania and Ohio from May 31 through June 7. And through donations from customers and members of the public.
The bank began fundraising for the Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation in southeastern Pennsylvania in 2023, with 21 branches participating. That first year, the company raised $30,563 — surpassing that year’s goal of $25,000.
The effort expanded in 2024 to include all of the Indiana County-based bank’s branches. company’s branches and resulted in a donation to the foundation of $101,000. This year, S&T hosted 72 lemonade stands at their branch locations and operations centers in Pennsylvania and Ohio from May 31 through June 7. This year’s $117,000 donation is the third consecutive year the bank has surpassed its fundraising goal.
“The energy and enthusiasm our employees bring to our partnership with ALSF inspires our customers and community members to respond with great kindness and generosity,” Chris McComish, S&T Bank CEO, said in a statement. “Over the past three years, we’ve been able to exceed every fundraising goal that’s been set, going above and beyond to help raise funds for childhood cancer research while continuing to make people our purpose and having a positive impact on the communities we serve.”
The nonprofit Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation’s mission is to “change the lives of children with cancer by funding impactful research, raising awareness, supporting families and empowering everyone to help cure childhood cancer.”
Lemonade Days was started in 2000 when 4-year-old Alex Scott, who was battling cancer, and wanted to find a way to raise money to find cures for other children battling the disease.
By the time she passed away in 2004 at age 8, her lemonade stands had exceeded her initial goal of raising $1 million. To date, Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation has raised more than $300 million.
