Members 1st Federal Credit Union is adding a new branch. The Cumberland County-based credit union has announced plans for the full-service branch inside the Giant Food Store, 224 Hardwood Drive in East Buffalo Township, just outside of Lewisburg in Union County.
This new location represents Members 1st’s commitment to provide convenient, personalized banking experiences to its growing membership, according to a press release announcing the new branch.
The credit union’s Lewisburg Giant branch is expected to open in December. Among the financial services it will offer are: Account openings, loan applications, teller transactions and personalized member support.

“As someone who went to high school in Lewisburg and grew up in the Susquehanna Valley, this expansion is especially meaningful to me,” Michael Wilson, president & CEO of Members 1st Federal Credit Union, said in a statement. “We are excited to deepen our roots here and bring even more convenient financial options and support to this community.”
The expansion reflects the credit union’s commitment to growth and strengthening its presence in the Susquehanna Valley, according to the release. Members 1st said it aims to better serve the evolving needs of the region and make it easier for members to access personalized banking solutions close to home.
Earlier this year, the credit union announced it had reached a milestone of 600,000 members. Members 1st is marking its 75th anniversary this year.
Members 1st has nearly 60 branch locations across 11 Pennsylvania counties, including: Adams, Berks, Cumberland, Dauphin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Lehigh, Lycoming, Northampton, Perry and York. In Berks, the credit union has two branches: 4363 Perkiomen Ave. in Exeter Township, which opened in March 2021; and 4620 W. Penn Ave. in South Heidelberg Township, which opened in November 2021.
Asked in January about plans for additional growth in Berks or into Chester, Delaware and Montgomery counties, the company didn’t provide specifics, saying the credit union continuously evaluates what opportunities are available to best serve members now and in the future.
