Asher’s Chocolate Co., has collaborated with Federal Donuts & Chicken to create a cosmic treat to celebrate the summer solstice.
Asher’s Chocolate Co., a family-owned manufacturer of premium chocolate and confectionery products, has partnered with Federal to create a limited-edition chocolate donut topped with Asher’s Moon Rock candy. It is the second installment in the companies’ limited-edition donut collaboration series.
The launch coincides with June 20, the summer solstice, which is the longest day of the year and the official start of summer. While the solstice celebrates the sun, the Moon Rock Donut adds a “playful twist by channeling the mystery of the night sky,” according to a press release.
The Moon Rock Donut features a chocolate cake donut with marshmallow glaze, topped with crushed chocolate sandwich cookies and a caramel drizzle. It is available from June 20 through June 27 at all Philadelphia-area Federal Donuts & Chicken locations.
“This is our second drop with Federal Donuts & Chicken, and we’re excited to keep building on what we started,” Chester Asher, director of marketing at Asher’s Chocolates, said in a statement. “Moon Rocks have gained a lot of traction since they launched last year, and this collaboration is a chance to showcase them in a way that feels fresh but still true to who we are.”
The Moon Rock Donut is the second release in a four-part partnership between Asher’s Chocolates, based in Franconia Township, Montgomery County and Federal Donuts & Chicken, based in Philadelphia. Each limited-edition donut highlights Philadelphia’s culinary creativity, with two more flavors planned for later this year. The Moon Rock Donut follows the May collaboration on a Cherry Cordial Donut, which was available the week before Mother’s Day. That donut sold out by 10 a.m. each morning during its release, the companies said.
“At Federal Donuts & Chicken we’re always looking for ways to surprise and delight. Partnering with Asher’s brings together two local favorites in a way that feels fresh and fun,” Jeff Benjamin, CEO at Federal Donuts & Chicken, said in a statement. “The Moon Rock Donut is our tribute to summer, to Philly, and to making people smile one donut at a time.”
Asher’s Chocolate Co. is one of the oldest continuously family owned and operated candy manufacturers in the industry, making fine chocolates since 1892. Producing more than eight million pounds of candy annually, Asher’s confections are sold in all 50 U.S. states, throughout Canada, Puerto Rico and the Caribbean and in select overseas markets.
Founded in 2011, Federal Donuts & Chicken offers donuts, fried chicken and coffee. The company has 10 locations in Pennsylvania, including several in Montgomery County.
