It is interesting to read comments from those who don’t understand the democratic process. The question is, did America vote for Donald Trump? Like him or not, the man received the “majority” of the votes cast and won the electoral college handily.

When the identity of the new pope was announced, I was excited about the selection. Selecting a progressive person to lead could do wonders for the faith. Although it takes the Catholic Church a long time to change its ways, I believe that the time is coming to allow women to become priests and also for priests to marry. I am hoping that it generates the change needed to bring people back to church.

It takes a lifetime to educate Democrats like Jay Miller. Jaybird, the top 10% (rich) of the taxpayers in the USA pay about 73% of taxes. The bottom 50% of all taxpayers in the USA pay about 2% of taxes. Trump is giving us no tax on tips, no tax on overtime, and no tax on Social Security. I don’t think the “rich” are worried about overtime, tips, or Social Security.

The budget surpluses of 1998-2001 were the result of spending reductions (Balanced Budget Act of 1997) coupled with tax reductions (Taxpayer Relief Act of 1997), not tax increases as claimed in a recent Sound Off post. The top tax rate was 39.6%, not 70-90%. Since 1998, federal tax revenues have grown twice the rate of inflation, while spending has grown 3 times. We have a spending problem.
