• The Wood Brothers with Viv & Riley are set to perform Friday at 7 p.m. at the Upper Merion Township Building Park in King of Prussia. The Wood Brothers have learned to trust their hearts. For the better part of two decades, they’ve cemented their reputation as freethinking songwriters, road warriors and community builders, creating a catalog of diverse music and a loyal audience who’ve grown alongside them through the years. That evolution continues with “Heart is the Hero,” the band’s eighth studio album. An acoustic-driven album that electrifies, “Heart is the Hero” is stocked with songs that target not only the heart but the head and hips. A bittersweet nostalgia lies at the heart of “Imaginary People,” the new album from Viv & Riley. Gifted songwriters and multi-instrumentalists, Vivian Leva and Riley Calcagno’s first album under the name Viv & Riley is a subtle masterpiece of thought and reflection. The album brings a reflectiveness to summertime jams that speak of uninhibited joy and creative camaraderie. Tickets start at $52. • Corinne Bailey Rae is set to perform Wednesday at 8 p.m. at the Keswick Theatre in Glenside, Montgomery County. In 2006, Bailey Rae released her self-titled debut album, which she recorded on a shoestring budget while still unsigned. An early appearance on BBC2’s “Later With Jools” and some intimate gigs around the UK had already started a word-of-mouth buzz leading her to be tipped as the next big thing. The success of that album was instant and immense. Debuting at No. 1 in the UK, featuring hit singles such as “Put Your Records On” and “Like A Star,” becoming a smash-hit around the world, and crashing straight into the Billboard Top 20 in the U.S. meant Bailey Rae gained a huge global audience within months. Four years and 4 million album sales later comes the long-awaited second album. For the 30-year-old singer and songwriter, this meant politely declining the suggestions that she work with this or that big-league producer in this or that big-money studio. It meant co-producing the album herself with friends and musicians she had worked with in the past to retain intimacy and control. Tickets start at $90.
