Lightbridge Academy, a national childcare and early education franchise, has announced the grand opening of its new facility in Wyomissing.
The center, located at 2205 Ridgewood Road, Suite 110, is holding a grand opening ceremony May 17 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Lightbridge Academy of Wyomissing provides early childhood education programs for children ages six weeks to pre-kindergarten.
The center is the latest in the portfolio of The Summit Group, a multi-unit franchisee group that owns Lightbridge facilities in Glenside and Fort Washington, Montgomery County, and Doylestown, Bucks County.
“We’re excited to open our doors here in Wyomissing and welcome local families to Lightbridge Academy,” said Nish Patel, co-owner of the Summit Group. “We’re dedicated to creating a place where children feel encouraged to explore, be curious, and develop a lifelong love of learning. We’re looking forward to becoming an active part of the community and supporting each child’s journey every step of the way.”

To mark the occasion, Lightbridge is offering an enrollment promotion of up to $1,000 off tuition for families who enroll during the event.
The grand opening will also offer a chance to tour the facility’s classrooms, explore curriculum overviews and technology demonstrations, and enjoy carnival games, a photo booth, refreshments, and arts and crafts, Lightbridge said.
Gigi Schweikert, chief executive officer of Lightbridge Academy, said she is excited to continue Lightbridge’s mission of supporting working families in the Wyomissing community.
“This new childcare center helps meet the growing demand for trusted child care in the area, while continuing our commitment to nurturing the growth and development of young learners,” Schweikert said in a statement. “With each new center, we deepen our dedication to helping families balance work and home, and we look forward to making a positive impact in Wyomissing for years to come.”
Lightbridge was established in 1997 in Iselin, New Jersey. It was founded as a family business based on a “circle of care” philosophy that places equal importance on the needs of children, their families, teachers, center owners and the community, according to the franchise’s website.
Lightbridge began franchising in 2011, and has 160 childcare centers open or in development throughout Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, South Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia.
“(Lightbridge) continues to meet the growing demand for high-quality educational child care — an industry expanding at a compound annual growth rate of 5.86%,” Lightbridge said in the release. “(The franchise’s) accredited programs, proprietary curriculum, and cutting-edge technology, including ParentView® Internet Monitoring and the Lightbridge Journey App — support the evolving needs of busy working families.”
